Pre-Design and Programming
This phase of designing for Interior layout, theme, and ambiance defines the parameters of the project, scope of services, and establishes a contractual agreement. Through interviewing, questionnaires, and/or observation, this step defines the Client’s goals and determines needs.

Schematic Design
This phase is a broad-brush overview of all aspects of the project in order to:

  • Establish the design concept
  • Plan spaces
  • Analyze budget
  • Design preliminary floor plans
  • Design Furniture plans
  • Determine elevations
  • Determine reflected ceiling plans
  • Choose fabric and furnishings
  • Establish lighting needs

Design Development
Once a conceptual design and budget is established the interior designer refines and develops such items as: Floor plans with FF&E (Furnishings, Fixtures, & Equipment) and lighting layouts, elevations, and detail drawings.

Contract Documents
Development of all documentation for construction of the design is included in this phase. These include: Architectural and Interior Design drawings, FF&E specifications, Bidding documents, and Finish Schedule.

Contract Administration
This phase is the final step in the execution of the design of the project: development and supervision of Construction & Installation, review of shop drawings, and selection of colors and finishes.
